OpenMW-Web v1.7.17
Released October 27, 2026
No more purple buildings or holes in the ground on self-hosted servers. When a game file took too long to arrive from a busy server, the texture or patch of ground it belonged to was replaced with a placeholder, and the game kept reusing that placeholder for every building that shared the texture until you walked away and came back. A file that fails to arrive is now loaded again the next time it is needed, and only the one object that hit the failure is affected.
Self-hosted servers keep more of their upload for the game. In the background each player downloads the rest of the game files ahead of time. On a self-hosted server that download now uses at most a quarter of the connection and slows down further when the server is busy, so the files a player is waiting on arrive first.
